Seeley Stable

Date Built: Circa 1869.Historic Period: American.Rebuilt in 1974.

Seeley Stable was built in 1869 for the lodging of horses and storage of vehicles for Albert Seeley’s stagecoach line from San Diego to Los Angeles. The barn was demolished in the 1920s and rebuilt in 1974. Today it houses a fine collection of 19th century overland transportation gear and vehicles, including a carreta (ox-drawn cart) and a huge two-wagon freighter. Most of these rare artifacts were given to California State Parks by Roscoe E. “Pappy” Hazard, a former rancher and retired highway contractor.
